TAE001 | Development of Bird Detection and Deflection System in Aircraft: Birds cause a lot of trouble at airports, especially during take-off and landing of aircraft. Incidences of birds hitting aircraft are termed bird strikes. A small bird, if struck inside the engine, can cause serious consequences, including losing the entire aircraft, passengers, and crew. It can sometimes severely damage the aircraft. Therefore, it is crucial to detect the presence of birds within the specified range. If birds are detected, they need to be deflected to avoid coming into the aircraft’s path. A water jet can be used as a deflector system since it harmlessly deflects the birds. The detection system will scan the specified range and send a signal if any object is present. Upon detection, an alarm will be raised. The location estimation system will then estimate the object’s position relative to the aircraft, allowing the water jet to be activated to deflect it.
